Pink Job
Liam Naish
Performance: 29.11.2024 - 7PM-9PM
29.11.2024-20.12.2024
Reception November 22 2024 7PM - 9PM
It's dark on my way home, after the December sun, on the transcan between the casino and the Petrocan. Driving snow and the Sunday traffic keep me from peace. Some boys outta Golden nearly ran me off the road, a lifted truck and a trailer of sleds. Another thing I've become accustomed to on the weekly commute. I'm still 30 minutes from home.
On our bedroom floor there's a pile of laundry that needs doing. The coin operated machines downstairs, past the basement neighbors door with that small dog that won't shut up. I've gotta remember the sheets and the bit of clothes you need done. I'll struggle to stay awake for the end of the cycle, but I'll enjoy getting to hear about your day...

My Hair is Getting Longer
Frankie Elouise
27.09.2024-18.10.2024
Reception September 27 2024 7PM - 9PM
"My Hair Is Getting Longer" visualizes the intersection of shame and joy, particularly within the contexts of femininity, womanhood, and trans experience. This exhibition explores how critiques of expression are deeply ingrained in everyday thinking and begins the process of unpacking internalized gender norms. It invites viewers to reflect on how these intersections not only reveal the complexities of navigating societal expectations but also highlight the profound ways in which joy can emerge and transform amidst these challenges.
For her debut solo show, Elouise draws from everyday experiences and personal identity exploration, often incorporating objects and details from her life. Her work focuses on stretching and contorting figures while distorting perspectives to challenge conventional views and play with body language. Through both personal and universal narratives, she confronts and reimagines traditional stories around femininity, creating a space for introspection and connection.

Work And Play: A New Exploration
Sydney Paquette
14.06.2024 - 06.07.2024
Reception June 14 2024 6PM - 8PM
Work and Play: A New Exploration,” explores the theme of agency for women in skilled trades and construction. Through sculpture, painting, and drawing, she draws inspiration from her background as a house painter and her involvement in Youth Programs at SAIT. This exhibition marks the first time she has integrated all these mediums, signifying a novel artistic endeavor as she delves into the concept of “work and play.”
Integrating gestures, emotions, and hardware objects into her artwork, Paquette reflects on textural, visceral, and expressive aspects of her craft. Celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of the trades, her work captures the multifaceted experiences of women in these fields. Through her portrayal, she offers agency within a fresh visual language.

Crit Room
Crawlspace Studio Collective
31.05.2024 - 07.06.2024
Reception May 31 2024 6PM - 9PM
Crit Room explores the work of current and founding members of Crawlspace. Our studio collective houses twelve amazing artists working in a communal space as they continue and develop their unique practices in a post-graduation setting.
We found each other through our cohort at Alberta University of the Arts and formed a thriving, supportive, creative, community. Together we’ve grown as artists and friends, and without each other, the work exhibited today would have never been possible. This exhibition is a final goodbye to our time there, and an exciting step towards the future of Crawlspace.
